Services – Translatability & Advanced Technologies

Measurement of clinically relevant outcomes in the preclinical context is key to its translatability. At Matrilex, our outcome measurements include: (i) glomerular filtration rate by FITC-inulin and FITC-sinistrin based methods in our kidney studies; (ii) ALP and bilirubin in our cholangiopathic liver disease models; (iii) O2 saturation by oximetry and lung volumes by microCT in lung disease; and (iv) echocardiography and conductance catheterization in cardiac studies.

Advanced Technologies

Cardiac Function

Matrilex is one of only a handful of laboratories with the ability to assess cardiac function in rodents in the in vivo setting using high resolution echocardiography and conductance catheterization.

Lung Aeration

CT-based methods are becoming the new standard for assessing lung aeration in clinical trials. Analogous outcomes can be assessed in mice using micro-CT at Matrilex.

Transdermal readouts

Organ function is a critical determinant of efficacy in clinical trials. At Matrilex, kidney function (GFR) and lung function (O2 saturation) are assessed transdermally using the latest technological advances.

Advanced tissue imaging

Ensuring consistent and high-quality staining, tissue sections are processed automatically prior to being imaged and quantified using digital pathology techniques (HALO).

Biomarker assessment

Beyond standard technologies such as ELISA assays, Matrilex takes advantage of the unparalleled sensitivity and dynamic range of its Mesoscale Diagnostics (MSD) platform and the reproducibility and quantitative accuracy of automated immunodetection (Jess).
